MAC Cosmetics and the Quest for the Holy Grail

Ah, the quest for finding holy grail products can be a tedious, tiring and treacherous one, but it is definitely worth it when you find those products that never let you down. Luckily, I hit the jackpot; I have found 5 holy grail products that I hold near and dear to my heart, and they are all from MAC. I mean, who needs a man when you can cuddle with these beauties at night? They’ll always make you feel beautiful and special. What more can you ask for?!

MAC Prep + Prime Highlight Pen in Light Boost | This highlighting pen is brilliant. I don’t know what I even did without this product, and I don’t even remember how many times I have repurchased this baby. If you have a medium complexion– you need this color in your life. If you have fairer skin then try this out in Radiant Rose. For those with a darker skin tone, Bright Forecast will work well for you. I love how this pen glides on smoothly and the formula is creamy and blendable without being too thick. This is a definite must!

MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation | When I was a mere thirteen or fourteen years old, I started developing an interest in makeup. I mean, I thought I was an adult at that point (I was not) and all the adult women I saw would pull out a compact from their purse and powder their nose. I vied to be like that and that’s when this powder foundation came into my life. I was in eighth grade and this was a staple for me along with black eyeliner. Ah, the emo days. Even though I don’t sport the raccoon eyes anymore, I do use this powder and have consistently repurchased it since then. The texture is very smooth and it blends into the skin flawlessly.

MAC Eyeshadow in Soft Brown | The key to creating a beautiful eyeshadow look is all about the transition color, and this one is perfect! The color is subtle (especially on medium to dark skin tones) and it blends into the crease flawlessly. This matte shadow is just perfection for the crease, and it looks beautiful all over the lids too for a more natural effortless look. Soft Brown is definitely my most used eyeshadow and I can’t get enough!

MAC 217 Brush | Blending your eyeshadow is essential and having the right brush to do it is a must. This eyeshadow brush is very soft, smooth, and it picks up product flawlessly. If you splurge on any one brush for eyeshadow, this one should be it! I have a weird tendency to rarely use items that I like because I don’t want to ruin them, and for the longest time that is how I felt about this brush — it was just too nice to ruin. But, I got over my irrational fear and began using this brush more often and boy does my eyeshadow look a lot better.

MAC Fix+ Finishing Mist | Setting your makeup is important if you are trying to make your makeup last all day, and this is where Fix+ comes into play. The first time I saw this product I was very confused; it seemed like you were just spraying water on to your face. But, once I tried it out, my whole makeup routine changed. Not only does this set your makeup, it is a nice refresher throughout the day when your skin just needs a bit more oomph and hydration. Also, if your makeup is looking a bit cakey, a few mists of this and your makeup will settle and look more natural. It has saved me from looking like a cake face many times!

P.S. I wanted to include some lipsticks in this post, but since I have so many favorite MAC lippies I thought I would just do a separate post on them!

What are your holy grail MAC products? Have you tried any of these products?
