Building The Perfect Winter-Ready MAC Eyeshadow Quad

Finding the perfect eyeshadow palette can be a hassle. There are always those few shades you love dearly, and then there are those few shades you never touch. That is why I love building my own custom eyeshadow palette, well, a quad in this case. This quad happens to be from MAC, and you can purchase larger empty palettes if that is what you desire. Another great thing about these is that you can customize them for the different seasons, and that is what I decided to do with my empty MAC quad, which will be great for the upcoming winter season.

A winter ready MAC quad featuring Sketch, Deep Damson, Saddle, and Nylon

Sketch| This is a dark maroon-ish burgundy shade with a velvet finish so it has a slight sheen to it when you apply this on the lids, but it is more faint than I expected. I’m really liking this dark maroon burgundy type of shade for the winter this year. It adds the slightest amount of color, and it is very sultry.

Deep Damson| Essentially, this is almost the same shade as Sketch, but it is more red in color and matte in finish. It’s not as pigmented as Sketch, which makes it a bit easier to blend out so it’s a great crease color. I love adding Sketch all over the lid and blending the harsh edges out with this shade for a subtle sultry look. (This shade is only available at pro stores or online)

Saddle| A warm brown shade really pulls a palette together because it is a great transition shade and goes with virtually every look. I like to put soft brown shades in the crease because it really blends out the whole look and looks beautiful. Saddle is nicely pigmented, but it blends out easily.

Nylon| Every good eyeshadow palette or quad needs a good highlight shade. It’s wintertime so of course I want a highlight shade that has some shimmer and shine to it. Nylon has been my go-to inner corner highlight for a while so I knew that it would be great for my quad. It’s a champagne gold shade that is highly pigmented and adds the right amount of shine to the inner corner of your eyes.

This is the second quad I’ve purchased, and they really are very nifty, especially if you just want to do a simple eyeshadow look without too many shades. I’ll probably be making a quad for the spring as well ;).
